We have four categories of membership as follows:-

1. Registered member

Member with bees who will receive our Newsletters, the BBKA News and their membership card direct from the BBKA.
Also registered members will be covered by third party insurance for public liability.

Cost:- BBKA membership £14.00 Association Membership £12.00 and Bee disease insurance for three hives £2.00 giving a total of £28.00.

If you have, or intend to have during the year, more than three colonies you pay extra premiums as shown below in red.

2. Partner Member

For a member who is involved with bee keeping and lives at the same house as a registered member but who will not receive a copy of the BBKA News or Association mailings in addition to that received by the registered member.

Will be covered for third party liability.

Cost:- BBKA Membership £9.24 giving a total of £9.24.

Note if a Partner member has his or her own bees then bee disease insurance will have to be paid per the table below.

3. Country Member

A member who does not have bees and will receive the BBKA News and Association mailings.

Cost BBKA £7.00 and Association Membership £12.00 giving a total of £19.00

4. Friend of South Staffs

The member will receive only our Newsletter and if he or she has bees will be a registered member of another association.

Cost:- Association Membership £12.00
For additional colonies please add the following charges to work out your total membership fee.

Between 4 and 5 colonies (including the basic three) add an extra £2.00.
Between 6 and 10 colonies (including the basic three) add an extra £5.25.
Between 11 and 15 colonies (including the basic three) add an extra £7.75.
Between 16 and 20 colonies (including the basic three) add an extra £9.50.
Between 21 and 24 colonies (including the basic three) add an extra £11.10.
Between 25 and 39 colonies (including the basic three) add an extra £0.50 per hive

For the insurance to be valid, all colonies owned by the beekeeper must be declared. Therefore members must make allowances (when payment is made) for any unforeseen increases in colony size during the season (an additional swarm or nuclei also counts as an individual colony).
